21st century Franklin Pierce

Bush most unpopular president in modern history — CNN

I could've predicted that last century (and did).
[Frankin Pierce] proposed annexing Cuba, by arms if necessary, but his opponents, suspecting the addition of a new slave state, outed the plan and ultimately forced him to renounce it.
Franklin Pierce.
"When Franklin Pierce ran for president, we voted for him. We’re proud of it. And if the rest of the country had followed our lead, we wouldn't have had all these problems over the years, either."
Sen. T. Rent Lott, 1857
Plus ça change.

Did you know that Bush is a descendant of Franklin Pierce? His mother was Barbara Pierce before marrying G.H.W. Bush.

If you look closer, but might find some Warren G. Harding DNA floating around in the Bush family gene pool.

It is not a fair thing, comparing Bush to the other presidents. Of course he will come in much, much lower.

It would be far better and more accurate to compare Bush to, say, le roi soleil or the fiddler.
